Camaraderie really does make everything better. This first week of school was so different from my first two and a half years of college. After meeting so many friends not only within the SOL and ambassador position, I felt for the first time I really did belong to this community. The "first day jitters" instantly went away as I said hi to familiar faces, and I actually wanted to stay in school for the first time. I worked the first ever welcome desk shift of the year which was interesting, but fun. Most of my shift was filled with students asking where classes were and I had no problem helping them and guiding them. The first event I ever worked was the "bling your binder" event. Again, familiar faces from orientation or convocation stopped by and decorated a binder. New faces would stop by as well which is greatly appreciated, because new friends are always welcome! Both these events: the welcome desk and the bling your binder event reassured me that UC Blue Ash is a tight community that I can greatly serve and continue to lead. As far as my courses went, I learned that most prokaryotes (bacteria, archaea etc.) don't have mitochondria! This is because of their lack of membrane bound organelles...but anyway that was my week in a nutshell. It was a great way to start and I probably won't be writing novels like this every week but hey its whatevs!
