Great opportunities were presented to me this week and I am ever so grateful. First was the 50th Anniversary Gala on Thursday. It was an amazing opportunity for me to be there and to be invited to sit with President Neville Pinto, his wife Dr. Pinto, Eric Boyd, Dr. Lightner, and fellow UCBA students (former and present). I learned a lot about these guests and can't believe that I am part of the system that has made them successful. I felt like the "leader" part of the servant leader role of being an ambassador. Although this is the case, I made sure to talk to the ambassadors working the event, who felt more of the "servant" role of being an ambassador. I didn't feel right with this, but the situation was eventually dissolved at the end of the night, and I joined my fellow ambassadors for ice cream which was more or less; the true highlight of my night. An event I worked in which I felt the servant leadership of being an ambassador was the UC smiles event in which we helped assist with the kids of Norwood Elementary. It was a very heart-warming event as these kids get to be "college kids" for the day and the fun they had learning about things and receiving amazing dental resources was well worth the chaos of kids. As for what I learned this week, I learned that Presidnet Pinto and his wife Dr. Pinto met on a blind date! I feel special because I know this now. Dr. Pinto and I are basically BFF's. As far as my academics, I am keeping up but am having trouble making time for the MCAT which is slowly but surely creeping up on me. It's an improvement I have to make on my part and will surely try and do. I am only human and am still learning about time management in terms of academics, my health, personal time and studying for the MCAT. Its chaotic but I can do it as long as I stay persistent because hey, it's whatevs!
